Diesel Fuel Tech Talk for New Farm Equipment

Diesel Farm Equipment

Farm equipment is subject to diesel injector deposits and filter plugging.

  • High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) Internal Diesel Injector Deposits
  • Fuel Filter Plugging from Asphaltenes and Glycerin.

Diesel Injector Deposits

High pressures—High Temperatures—leads to the formation of a waxy-sticky deposits on HPCR injector plungers the deposits cause injector plungers to stick interfering with fuel injection and engine operation. The deposits are sodium salt of an organic acid. They are completely different from the deposits found in older diesel engine designs. In fact, these deposits do not respond to Cummins L-10 detergents. A completely new and unique detergent chemistry in DIESEL GUARD SUPREME must be used.

BRAD PENN® Medium Ash Biogas Engine Oil Reformulated with Robust Additive Package

American Refining Group, Inc. (ARG,) manufacturer of quality Brad Penn® Lubricants, recently announced an enhanced formulation to its BRAD PENN® Medium Ash Biogas Engine Oil (#7290,) reformulated with a more robust additive package that is specifically tailored for engines running on different types of fuel gases, such as biogas and landfill gas.

This additive package is more efficient for sour gas (high sulfur) service, where acid and base controls (alkalinity) are the limiting factors.

  • The new formulation provides a base number of 10.0 with a sulfated ash of 0.99%.
  • In comparison, its predecessor carried a base number of 8.9 at the same sulfated ash level of 0.99%.

A Central New York Dairy farm conducted an extensive field trial, which was deemed a complete success. The trial utilized the reformulated BRAD PENN® Medium Ash Biogas Engine Oil (#7290) utilizing anaerobic digestion technology.

To date, the Brad Penn® Biogas Oils are utilized at 24 farms (8 pending) plus 2 landfills in 4 different states.

We recently received certification letters from TOTAL Lubricants U.S.A. about the properties of their food-grade oils and greases, which certify that NEVASTANE oils and greases are:

  • Products of petrochemical origin.
  • NSF-H1 registered. Therefore, these products are acceptable as lubricants with incidental food contact (H1) for use in and around food processing areas.
  • Not exposed to products of animal origin during manufacturing and handling.
  • Not exposed to products of vegetable origin during manufacturing and handling.

Aditionally, NEVASTANE oils and greases DO NOT CONTAIN ANY:

  • Ethyl alcohol
